Video Conferencing
Legal Aid Society of Hawaii – Video Conferencing Project
LASH already had a program to conduct pro se clinics which had a very high success rate for attendees. A key to this success was the follow-up assistance provided to those who attended the clinics. The pro se assistance center was on Oahu, and the challenge was to provide this assistance to persons on other islands. They achieved this by connecting all of the offices with video conferencing and doing so using mainly DSL connections to hold down costs. What they found was that the added benefit of connecting staff for meetings and training was even more important for the program. Montana Legal Services Association- MT -Pro Se- Video-Conferencing Project
Montana Legal Services Association, in a cooperative effort with the University of Montana Law School, the Court Assessment Program of the Montana Supreme Court, and the 16th Judicial District Court, worked to create a video conferencing project as a means to increase access to legal information and services for low-income persons living in remote/rural Montana. With the full support of the local court, MLSA has used this system to successfully represent clients in court, a major milestone in the use of video conferencing in legal services.
