The selection process for TIG grants begins with the submission of letters of intent by LSC programs. These letters are reviewed by LSC and some are selected for further competition. Those programs whose letters are selected are invited to submit full applications. The entire selection process lasts approximately four months. The applications are submitted in the late spring to early summer months. In determining which applicants LSC will fund, LSC staff members and a panel of outside reviewer review all applications for completeness and merit. This grant review usually occurs in June and July. From these reviews LSC staff prepares a "Recommended for Funding" slate. This slate is submitted to the Vice President and the LSC President for revision and final approval. Then, if necessary, any modifications that need to be made to the grant proposals are negotiated between TIG staff and the individual programs in late summer/early fall. Please access the TIG calendar here.
The annual conference is held each year in January. Each grant awarded in the current round pays for a single person – typically the technical staff on the grant – to attend the conference. For a small registration fee, the conference is open to anyone who wants to attend. The registration fee is $400. The preliminary schedule for the 2007 conference is available here...
