Free tools available to Grantees:

A2J - user friendly interface for automated forms interviews which incorporates website standards for low-literacy users, including graphics, to create an easy to navigate interview for automated forms. For more information regarding this project or the latest version contact jcarle@kentlaw.edu.

HotDocs - HotDocs document assembly software is available to legal services programs for free through a donation from LexisNexis. Each state is allowed two free copies of HotDocs author used to create automated forms. If your state has not received its allotted copies, click on the HotDocs link to fill out the form. If you have a question about whether your state has received these forms please contact your statewide website coordinator.

ICAN EIC - The Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) is a refundable tax credit that reduces (or eliminates) the taxes that low-income people pay and that may result in income for the low-income filer. ICAN-EIC is free, web-based software designed to help low-income clients file their federal tax claim and receive EITC benefits. Statetax ICAN forms are available for California, Montan and Michigan.

Self Assessment Tool - This is an online, interactive assessment tool for state technology planners courtesy of Gabrielle Hammond's Statewide Technology Planning in Legal Services manual. The tool will ask some you some questions about where you are in your statewide technology planning and then recommends the steps to take in order to move forward. There are currently four assessments available: 1. Preparing your State to Plan for Technology; 2. Creating a Comprehensive Statewide Plan for Technology ; 3. Implementing Statewide Technology Projects and 4. Supporting your Plan Over Time.

Poverty Law Survey Tool Online (PRESTO) - This online site allows legal services organizations and related nonprofits to generate online surveys and collect data from dispersed locations. It also tabulates the data and publish the data online for the survey participants to review and publish the survey results in CSV or Excel spreadsheet format for the administrator to download.
